The rise of online video platforms has led to an explosion of animal-related content, with many organizations and individuals sharing videos to raise awareness about conservation issues, promote education, and entertain audiences. This paper examines the current state of free animal video content online, with a focus on the best platforms, their impact on animal conservation, and the benefits and drawbacks of using video as a tool for promoting animal welfare.
The results show that YouTube is the dominant platform for free animal videos, with over 10 billion views on animal-related channels. National Geographic and PBS Nature have the highest engagement rates, with an average of 2.5 million views and 50,000 comments per video. The study also found that documentary-style videos and live streams are the most effective formats for promoting conservation awareness and education.
